I'm a HUGE fan of Doom, and I felt like there weren't a lot of Doom covers in Famitracker, so I decided to cover the entire OST!
I started this project months ago, but I very recently picked it up again and made enough progress for it to have its own thread.
(i haven't finished any of the songs though >.>)
I don't plan on this being the next "Sonic 3 & Knuckles VRC7", but I kinda hope I can make this a collaboration, as the soundtrack is rather large, at 31 songs.
Man, I'm really liking this! A really high-octane OST. Your guitars are really reminiscent of Battletoads and the chords in Dark Halls are great. Your rockin' tunes are rockin' and your spooky tunes are spooky. No complaints here so far.

Hey, check out my music thread!
Constructive criticism welcome!
Thanks! Right now I'm working on trying to do more of The Imp's Song, and fixing how inaccurate the percussion is on a few of these (namely Dark Halls and I Sawed the Demons). I did most of these before realizing I could just import MIDIs into FL Studio and look at the notes :P

hahahahaha
I probably won't contribute much, if anything at all, but I'm dropping in to say that all these sound spot-on so far.

Not bad at all. I would suggest a much slower fade in on the "strings" instrument, and make use of the note release too. That's the only suggestion I have.
Now you have to finish it, and then learn to program the NES and port Doom to it!!!
Wow, this is sounding great so far!
Now you have to finish it, and then learn to program the NES and port Doom to it!!!
And then make it the most ported game in the history of mankind and put it on every console it already isn't on. I think even the biggest NES cartridge would only have enough room for the first level. But hey, if it's on the ZX Spectrum, I don't see why someone wouldn't want to try putting it on NES!

Are you using laptop speakers? I can hear it fine.

Yeah, I myself actually agree there. But the thing is, I'm going straight off the midi for notes. :P
Love Doom, been playing it again recently. Cool to see someone working on an entire OST cover.
Overall it sounds awesome! Your percussion is solid and your instruments do a great job of achieving the intensive yet simplistic/midi character of the original. Any reason you're not using DPCM though?
Attached is a quick edit I made to "At Doom's Gate" cus I thought the guitar pitches sounded a bit off at times
Also attaching an unpolished cover of "I Sawed the Demons" that I did a while back that might be useful to you. Tbh I like yours better with the square for the bass (is it one octave higher than it should be or is that me?). But what will you do when the second guitar comes in? Were you planning on using the triangle for that?
Oh shit, I didn't think about the second guitar in I Sawed the Demons! I think I might just move the bassline over to the triangle to make everything easier.
