(FLIP THE TABLE)F*** THIS SH** I'M DONE, I'M OUT, FIRST COMMENT I SEE,
IT TERRIBLE. SPENT TOO MANY HOURS ON THIS SH**. OUT OF HERE SON PEACE
no offence just need to vent. Again thanks for listing to my tune
I'm going to have to agree with you and say that I do think the previous response was a rather rude...But please chill. No need to explode because someone hated your work.
Now, I've listened to a lot of people's first songs and honestly it's not THAT bad. At the very least, it sounds better than my first few ORG Maker songs. In addition, you have a good grip on the basics of volume envelopes, frames, and CREATED something. And no matter how good or bad it is, as long as you keep creating you'll only get better from here!
On the other hand, I'm going to have to agree with the previous post and say you should try making some covers before you write your own tunes. When I first started Famitracker, I already had 6+ years of musical experience but just to be safe I started with a few covers.

Constructive criticism welcome!
Thom, that is no way to treat a new user. Give him a chance, he just wants to make his own music.
Anyway, while the melody is not very good, it at least has a beat. The notes aren't all scrambled (at least compared to some of the stuff we have seen in the past).
For improving your sound, I suggest starting with getting used to the tracker interface and effects so that you know what everything does. Then, try listening to some good NES soundtracks with simple sound design, such as the Mega Man games, Castlevania games, and even the Mario games would be a good place to start. Doing so would significantly help you design better percussion sounds (since I personally found them lacking in the song you posted above). If you can't translate well by ear, then you could find a .NSF file of the NES soundtrack you want, get NSFImport (You can find it by Googling it), then import (preferably all) songs from the .NSF file and save them as individual .FTMs. Study their instrumentation and try to translate that to your own work. Imported NSFs will look weird at first, but once you let what's going on soak into your head and observe it enough, it will make sense. I could flat out explain how it all works, but that would mean an enormous wall of text that would probably only make it harder to understand.
[size=1][color=#383838]And frankly, I'm not that good of a teacher.
For improving your music writing skills, I suggest learning some basic chords and scales, chord progressions and how intervals work. [url=https://autochords.com/]Here is a simple chord progression generator that will give you a basic idea of what CPs sounds generally good. I think the "Cliche 2 minor" main progression would be best for you since it's so common and opens up many possibilities for creating a decent melody.

i check out your soundcloud and your music was awesome i like Ignite The Sky the most and thank for the chord generator
Hey, justbit21, just a little bit of forum ettiquite here. If you'd like to reply to multiple people, you should say something like this all in the same message:
@DragonDePlatino
(Message to me)
@VinylScratch
(Message to VinylScratch)
etc etc etc
Anyways...I really like djmaximum's interpretation of your piece! One thing you can learn from his version is the versatility of the effects column (the 10A and RFC stuff). One experiment I like to do is to listen to the song, then delete all the effects to see what the difference is. It's a good way to learn all of them without having to constantly reference the guide!

Honestly, it sounds better than my first. But that isn't saying anything. This sounds, honestly, awful, but you can certainly improve. I'm really not sure what to say in terms of constructive criticism, except this: Maintain a chord progression. Your song should have chords and keys throughout the song. Another is your song should go through different stages, and it should go somewhere. I know all this advice is a bit abstract, but I hope it helps. And, to add on to the whole "forum etiquette" thing, try not to have multiple posts in a row. Confine it all to one post, if you can. It helps de-clutter the board.

Personally, I thought your song has a little bit of charm to it, but that doesn't change the fact that, frankly, it's very unorganized. You seem to have very little understanding of what makes a song a song, and that's okay. I've been here for over a year and neither do I. What I do know, however, is how to add onto songs. Take this Final Fantasy remix I made a couple weeks ago, for example. Months ago I used NSFImport and I put the main theme as heard in FFI into Speed 6 (rather than keep it in Speed 1 which is what happens when you use NSFImport or GBSImport). I wanted to add a little comedy to it, so you'll hear in Frame 03 that the instruments suddenly stop (like a record scratch) and you hear Kefka. Then, the remix part comes in. I made a sort of guitar instrument on the VRC6 Pulse channels (Pulse 2 is an echo of Pulse 1. That's a trick you should get acquainted with). Those chords coming from the 2A03 Pulse channels? I based those off of the Pulse 2 and Triangle from the beginning. That's literally all I did; it was just simple chords. The rest just came naturally. I envisioned a sort of... march-like feel for the drums, so I went ahead and did that.
Anyway, I think djmaximum's edit and VinylScratch's link to Autochords will be very helpful. CheeseGuy has also said anything else I could. I can't stress enough that you have to have music theory knowledge to be good at this (not even advanced knowledge; it's mostly just chords and chord progressions). It's important to just keep on trying.
