Right Key... Check
Happy Song... CHeck
I still don't know how to make songs that don't take 3 days of my life... Check
Bass and Drums on one channel... check.

Looks like I made something.

Please give me your honest opinion on this. After this song, I'll be picking up the paino so I can learn how to make music more easily by ear and have a good fundation of music.

Thank you very much.

[url=posts.php?id=4843]This is you two months ago

You have improved a lot since then. You seem to be learning how to make chords and progressions, but you still need to learn how to define a solid melody (this is hard, but practice will make you better).

You didn't place the B01 effect in the right place in the first frame (you could have used a D00, you know?), it should go one row before. The vibrato you applied is a bit wild and should be a little softer. Maybe you should also try to balance volume a little more, but overall this was pretty good, you seem to be learning.

Happy? Yes, this was happy, but to make it happier, you must keep a solid melody throughout the song. It was pretty nice, but sometimes it's better to avoid repeating the same thing over and over again.

The DPCM samples were awesome, nice work on that.

As a result, this was a good song, but you still have a lot to learn. I'm glad you're going to pick up the piano, that will help you a lot in finding new chords and will serve as a great practice before you make music in the tracker.

You are going the right way, keep it like that. In very little time you have improved a lot as I see.

The lead was something I'm very weak in. So I have to work on that. The volume issue is still an with the VRC7. Sometimes I balance one channel and have some completely other mess in the other channel. And this brings me to the Bass + Drums. The bass drum is something I can hardly hear with all that other crap going on in the song. The noise channel seems to drown it out, through I think the chords are a bit
problem as well.

But in the mean time, I'll continue to practice music on the piano, and make a few ports of my music to the Mega Drive, maybe the volume issues will be fixed there

And here's and updated version of the song, with a few parts fixed.

My URL tag got screwed up for some unknown reason! There it is, hopefully fixed.

You still need practice with chords, though since then, you have improved. Now you have basic knowledge of how to make a chord, which is a good start.

Maybe the channels have too much stuff playing at the same time, but that's just me. It doesn't sound bad at least!

I don't seem to hear any discord like I did before, with your older tracks. Now you should go practice on your piano and hope you start making great melodies and learn a lot from it. Good luck!

Unless, of course, you wanted it to be a bit wild. B-)

You are getting better and better Thom. I actually like this! And I don't think the vibrato is too wacky, sounds good.

The only thing that boggles my mind is why you didn't simply set the rows to 48. and get rid of all the Bxx commands. This will also fix a few timing issues where you have an extra row that shouldn't be there. EXAMPLE: At the very end of frame 00 there is one extra row that screws the timing up.

If you need a more visual guide and the Hex row numbers confuses you (Which it did for me the first time I was using Famitracker) You can always set them in normal numbers

Click: File - Configuration

In the general settings, uncheck the box that says 'Show row number in hex'

Now look at your track and you'll see the mistake right away by looking at the row numbers.

I still suggest learning to get used to Hex because when pointing stuff out, most people on the forums use Hex.

Mind you I caught the mistake just by seeing the row highlights.

Wow Thom! You really are improving week by week! Kudos! Still one flaw though. A few parts of the song are a little bit too repetitive. I suggest you remove some frames. But Thom. WOW! This is actually one of my favorite songs by you! I just removed some frames in the song, and I absolutely love it! Like I said before, Thom, don't give up! I can see a bright future ahead of you.

EDIT: Oh! By the way, the bass DPCM sounds so crystal clear! I think you amplified it to a right volume! I should probably do that too with my custom bass audio files!
