As you all know, version 0.4.2 of Famitracker was recently released. And as always, it comes with a large selection of some of the finest[citation needed] FTMs around, which were selected by you, the people, at the end of each installment of a series of contests called DemoCompo (DC for short), brought to you by yours truly.
These contests ran from March to August of 2012, at which time I was forced to put the whole series on hiatus due to events of a more personal nature in my life which required my full attention. Then, I became a full-time student again, so I didn't really have enough time to run a contest on the side. Things have settled down now though, so I think now would be as good a time as any to pick up where we left off, especially with BotB's Winter Chip VIII having recently come to an end.
For those of you who weren't around last year, here's how it works: each contest lasts four weeks (three weeks submission period, plus one week for voting), and focuses on a particular piece of sound hardware (either internal audio alone, or internal audio plus one expansion chip), and individual installments alternate between covers and originals. At the end of the voting week, the top 3 modules become official demos that come with the software. So far, we've done:
Covers:[ul][li]Internal only (no DPCM)
[li]Nintendo MMC5
[li]Konami VRC6[/ul]
Originals:[ul][li]Internal only (no DPCM)
[li]Internal only
[li]Famicom Disk System[/ul]
Which leaves us with 2A03 (covers), FDS (covers), VRC6 (originals), MMC5 (originals), and then VRC7, N163 (1-4), N163 (5-8) and 5B for both. Obviously, the latter isn't supported yet, so it'll have to wait. But I thought I would ask your opinion on which expansion should go next. Since odd-numbered installments require entries to be covers, we can scratch VRC6 and MMC5 off the list. But that still leaves us with a fairly large selection to choose from.
To be honest, the reason I'm asking is because I kind of want to go for VRC7, since it hasn't been done before, but I'm afraid it won't be a very popular DC7 if I do so. Another one which hasn't been used in a DC so far is the N163, but opinions on this one seem to vary wildly, so I'm not entirely sure it's a good idea.
So basically, the decision is yours. What would you like the expansion for the next installment of DC to be? The choices are: [ul][li]Internal only
[li]Famicom Disk System
[li]Konami VRC7
[li]Namco 163 (1 to 4 channels)
[li]Namco 163 (5 to 8 channels)[/ul]
Please leave a comment below, either voting for one of these, or listing them in order of preference.
On February 28 I will count the votes and the results will dictate which sound hardware will be used. Even if you don't plan to enter, your votes are still appreciated - it's important for me to know not only what sound hardware participants want to use, but also which expansion Famitracker users would like to see bundled with the program!
Lastly, if you have any questions or comments regarding this post or the series as a whole, do ask, and I'll answer them as best as I can.
Post away!

I record (some) NSFs on hardware. Feel free to request a hardware render.
I'll go with N163, channel number doesn't matter to me.
4.- 2A03 only(classical or DPCM?)
We've already got enough demos for Classical (3 covers, 3 originals, from DC1 and DC2). 2A03 covers haven't been done though.
However, I think I didn't completely understand:
Originals or covers?

odd-numbered installments require entries to be covers
PLUS, what if I do something crazy, but part of it is something I uploaded before? Should I just go on, or I have to chop off that part of my submission?
I didn't edit my previous post to put this there so it would be easier to read.
EDIT: Also, jrlepage posted at the same time I was writing this. Thanks for the help in the other post.
I will not accept submissions that have been published before the contest starts, for two reasons:
1. Fairness. A big part of the contest is to see what you can come up with in a short period of time (three weeks). If you submit something you've written beforehand, there's a possibility that you spent more than three weeks on it, which is unfair to the rest of the entrants.
2. Anonymity. Voting in DemoCompo is done anonymously; if you submit something you've published/shared before, it might influence some voters (whether consciously or not).

What if it was very unfinished, and no one has replied to or seen the thread since say... oh, late november?
EDIT: I now realize that I could have used my 2A03 rendition of Acidjazzed Evening, and slightly regret posting it.
