Your tracker is, to say the least, a dream come true. Ask anybody who cares, and they'll say the same thing. Anyone who wanted to make NES music had to work with really crappy solutions (IT with samples, MCK, Nerdtracker and so on) for years and years to make our NES tunes, and this is, well, almost 100% the opposite. It's true NES without being almost impossible to use.

I love what you did with the instruments and the order list, and the multiple effect columns. The program runs perfectly and NSF export is instant love.

When using the program, I wrote down everything that I ran into that I used in IT but wasn't implemented in FamiTracker. Don't take this list to mean that I don't like your program. In fact I like it so much that I'm willing to put the effort in to improving it by reporting every little thing that isn't just right.

So yeah disclaimer aside here's the list I've made. They are more or less in order of importance. Don't feel obliged to add any of these things, but rest assured that I (and any IT user) will be grateful if you do! In a nice little gradient cause I'm a dork.

Feature requests/bug reports:
- Instrument masks (every instrument in selection gets changed to currently selected instrument). The equivalent command in IT is ALT+S.
- Selecting multiple tracks at once.
- A keyboard command to repeat last input instrument/effect/volume value (space bar in IT);
- When changing an instrument in the track, switch to that instrument. Right now it doesn't, so you change an instrument and then play a few notes and it's still the old instrument. I can see situations where your setup is preferable (such as when you're adding slide effects as a seperate instrument), but this is how I switch my instruments usually so it would be a nice feature to add, at least as an option.
- Interpolate/"gradient" not just volume but also effect commands (useful for tempo slidedown, as an example). Equivalnt IT command is ALT+X.
- Speed+tempo in song settings at the top, not just "speed" (which is really tempo). I didn't think speed was available until I checked the tempo command in the helpfile.
- Double/half spacing of notes (ctrl+g ctrl+f in IT) (optionally, timestretch command, but that's an advanced feature that IT doesn't even have. Check out Chibitracker which does have it as an undocumented command, Alt+T).
- Customizable effect commands (so we can change them to IT standard)
- Multiple taps of "home" for various "levels" of home-ness (first "home" back to the main note input (if you're on an effect/volume column), second "home" track one, third "home" row one)
- When using alt for a shortcut, a bell sound plays (not important in the least as I should turn that thing off anyway, but sorta annoying).
- Strange selection behaviour (especially using shift), gets "stuck" somehow. Hard to explain this one...

If anything seems unclear, don't hesitate to ask for further explanation. Also I didn't check everything on this forum so some of these requests may have already been requested before. I'm using the WIP that I grabbed from virt's thread.

Hi slash and thanks for liking it! It really helps making the time I spent on it worthwhile.

I've also wondered why there was no windows trackers available, personally I don't think any of the other solutions are that bad (after all, all of those has songs that at the best are equally outstanding) but seeing how those might be hard for new people to get into, I wanted to see if there was interests in a new tracker. Nice to see it was!

Just feel ok about making requests, that's what this forum is for. I have limited tracking experiences from before so all suggestions are helpful.
I have downloaded IT and are also looking on it for new ideas.

I think I know what you mean by selection getting stuck though, press ESC to remove selection after using the shift keys (I'll change that). All else seems clear.
So you can expect to see a number of the features added in coming WIPs. Right now I'm rewriting the NSF code so a complete new version might still take a while.

Ah, yeah I guess really crappy is pushing it a bit XD but I could never get a handle on any of the real NSF trackers and I always kinda felt like a fraud using Impulse Tracker to make NES tunes.

By the way here's my first attempt with Famitracker: Never End.

Thanks for pointing out the escape button on using selections, that will definitely help. I'll keep thinking about improvements/bug reports.

Here's one I found, not very important though:

When you make a selection and press delete, it deletes the selection, not just whatever's over the cursor. So I'm continually deleting things that I don't want to delete. In IT you "zap" (or cut) selected sequences to delete them, perhaps this could be implemented as an option in the settings menu?

Hey that song was awesome, especially for being the first attempt! The sweep effects are great! :D
And thanks again for the feedback, I will do something about the delete problem. I will also try to have a new WIP soon with some of the features added, a few of them are already done.

Btw, I checked your webpage and you make really good music! I hope you'll enjoy the new features and keep up the great work.
