While I was experimenting for one of my tunes, I decided to try & "simulate" a hurdy gurdy or a nyckelharpa (even if I've most likely failed miserably).

So I decided to transcribe the Swedish folk song Tok Jöns Polska, both for its traditional melody & as a salute to the FamiTracker crew (who, as I understand it, are Swedish).

I hope it sounds decent enough to deserve being called a proper salute.

Cool song! There are alot of traditional songs that could inspire people to make chip music.

This could be a Castlevania song!

Thanks, guys.

If only I knew of a better method of simulating a hurdy gurdy or bagpipes in FamiTracker. My tune does sound more like organ music than a hurdy gurdy.

I've also made a transcription of the ballad of Herr Mannerlig, but it needs major improvements (I transcribed it at the time I first started with this tracker). Hopefully, I can get around improving it & add it to this project file.

I am.

I'm actually very interested when it comes to transcribing anthems & traditional music.

Yeah; yet another bump. I'm still waiting to hear that German national anthem you made, Doommaster1994. :P

In the meanwhile, I made another song (Herr Mannerlig) for the VRC6. Since I stopped using the betas & latest stables due to all the problems everyone's having in the bugs section, I've done this in FamiTracker 0.3.0. I'm also including the NSF.

I covered it as best as I could from this YouTube video (& yes; I know I have bad hearing & mediocre skills):

I hope you guys approve of this song.

It sounds really good - it doesn't sound organ-y at all!

I could also picture there being a dance remix for Herr Mannerlig. I wonder if there was...

Sweet, man. It was well done & had a nice beat to it (as you'd expect in any patriotic anthem).

There are many national anthems & traditional songs that can work very well in FamiTracker (& one thing I've noticed is that Scandinavian music is particularly rich; transcribing them would be a wonderful idea for sharing one's heritage with the world).

It's simple song. 3 channels, 3 instruments.

It's very, very well done, EvGS. Even though the song is simple, it actually has meaning (just as every traditional song & anthem does).

I remember this particular song being a bit longer, though.
