Yeah, I know, it's surprising to expect something really astonishing from a newbie... but I actually started practising with FT long time ago. I released some of my creations on YouTube, but only now I decided to open my showcase in here.
So, I decided to port an old 1988 real-time strategy game for MSX2 computer called Herzog (those who's into MegaDrive may recall its' sequel, Herzog Zwei), and there is a reason. First, Sivak created Battle Kid: Fortress of Peril which was a success (or a blast from the past, at least). Second, NES suffers from a lack of good popular strategy games... nothing to say about real-time ones. Third, Herzog 1 itself was an awesome, still overlooked game, and I wanted to fix that once and for all.
The title 'Herzog Super 2010' is taken from the fake bootleg cartridge cover I made for my music videos. Why? Well, my opinion is that you can't confuse the original game with the remake that way
Tracklist:
1) Ten Years (An overture theme used in the MSX Herzog. Didn't had an actual title in the game, so I decided to call it like that)
2) Mercs! (This one is an original theme, made as the replacement for the original running demo track. Influences/inspirations: Kayama's cover of 'Mrots Tresed', 'Take Off' module heard in Mario Forever on Funny Tanks secret level)
3) The Previous War (World map theme, made it more agressive compared to both original versions)
4) The Fighter Called EMERGENCY To Base (Same)
5) Back To Square One (Basically, the first track I started working on... and it's still unfinished. No, it's listenable, but it lacks the background in the middle since I'm getting confused with the correct melody)
6) Take It Easy (Not even properly started)
7) Sniper (The most appealing track in both games IMO. Drastically improved old version of this track, includes echoes, more accurate melody and even a neat slide in the very ending (which would sound better if FamiTracker wouldn't freak the portamentos up). Fully finished, I guess...)
The Super Fighter Invigorated Us (That needs improvement, honestly. Still, sounds okay)
9) It Was Concurrent With The Accident (Okay, now here comes the song that makes appearence only in the first Herzog. Sounds great but needs a fix at the very end to make it sound more accurate. May sound a bit off on some NSF players.)
10) Breach of Contract (Herzog Zwei song to avoid repeating the old tracks on later levels... same status as Take It Easy.)
11) SFX - Entering Build Menu
12) SFX - Base Explosion (Again, portamento issues. Sounds different in both source file and NSF (dunno about the PRG file though)).
Enjoy and comment, guys.
