hello. i just downloaded FamiTracker the other day, and this is my first attempt at making any kind of tracker music.
it's a very short original - only 8 frames x 32 rows..what started out as a completely experimental "i wonder what this button does" kind of thing actually turned out ok, i hope.
apologies for the .mp3 format, but i'm having trouble with exporting .nsf files properly.
the tune sounds fine in FT, but when played back with nestopia, foobar2000, or AudioOverload, there is extra noise that shouldn't be there.
i hope you like it, and i will upload an .nsf if/when i can get that problem sorted out.
edit: it turns out that one single DPCM note was accidentally assigned to the wrong instrument, which was causing undesired squelching at the beginning of the track. problem fixed, .nsf uploaded, and lesson learned :-)
thanks for the feedback. i was reluctant to post the .ftm because it's so sloppily done compared to most other works i have seen here. you've convinced me to go ahead and share, so maybe someone can look at it and tell me where it can be improved, or where things might be done differently in the future?
also, if you play the file in nestopia 1.40, there is still this awful squelch at the very beginning, but after the track loops around, it's gone. maybe that could be extra file header information? anyway, i started making this in FTM v0.3.0, but finished it in v0.3.5 beta..so maybe that was the problem.
Actually, I don't really notice any squelch when I play it in Nestopia. If there is a squelch, it flows seamlessly with the rest of the tune, in my opinion.
I'll wait to see what someone else might say about the noise you're talking about.
