Hey guys,
I was just curious if there was any way to rip those DPCM files. I want that Sunsoft sound. The collection of sunsoft sounds didn't have the sound I wanted. I want the DPCM sound used in Super Spy Hunter and I was just curious if it could be ripped any possible way?
Thanks
-Nick

you can use JSR's NSF player. It's got a ripping utility built in.

I thought there was a thread somewhere on this forum with a pack of ripped Sunsoft samples.

I guess I'd have to search the forum a bit more.

There is but it didn't have the voice I wanted. Also, I don't know what the memory and size mean. If someone could help me out with that, that would be very nice of you.

The size of the DPCM sample determines the sound's length in the tracker. If you have a small file size, the quality of the sample would decrease (even though the length would be longer).

The memory tells you which hexadecimal memory location the sample was ripped from (i.e.: $30F4 would mean the sample was ripped from memory location 12532 of the ROM).

OK. I'm just curious because it's only letting me rip a A#, B, C, C# and D and nothing else.

You're not missing any samples. They're just reusing some of them at slower playback speeds. That's how they're getting the notes you're missing.

They can play the notes at lower pitches is what I mean.

yes, exactly. Playing back at a slower speed = lower pitch. The default pitch is "15". Change it to a lower number to get a lower note.

Sigh...

Double click on your instrument. Hit the DPCM samples tab. Load up your samples by hitting the "LOAD" button, and browsing for the samples on your hard disk. Click on a key ('C' for example). Once you have a key selected/highlighted, then click on the drop down arrow thingy right below that. A list of all the samples you have loaded will appear. Choose one.

Then... use the "PITCH" selector. By default, it is set to 15. Change it to a lower number to play your sample back more slowly.

note: some samples are pcm not dpcm samples, like the skate or die 2 stuff. you cant rip them with nsf live. but it would be neat if that was one day an option
