Is there any way to tweak the FM depth as a tracker effect for the FDS in FamiTracker? That could be hot for tracking in FDS! One could come up with pseudo-OPL synth sounding tunes just by tracking it in, and it would add a unique slant to FamiTracker. I wonder if it's even feasible...

Call me a dreamer, but wouldn't that be something else?

brought this up before. it really should be implemented, though i think that's the plan eventually. as it stands it's hard to really use the FM in any dynamic sort of way without giving yourself grey hair.

one problem though is that the FM speed range goes from 0 up into four digits, so how do you represent such a large range as an effect command when you only have 00-FF (256) to work with? i guess there'd have to be some kind of compromise. maybe "slide" commands as well... hrrgnngh

Unless of course the VRC 7 specific channels have decimal-based numbering with 4 digits per effect rather than hex-based and only 2 digits

Or maybe keep 3 digits, that way the "hex" can still be used. FFF in hex = 4095.

I was just talking about the FM depth, not its speed. Implementing FM speed would be a bi4ch, I would imagine and seeing as the above. However seeing as the FM depth goes up to 63, this would be pretty simple to implement, wouldn't it?

I could care less about the speed at this point, though if implemented somehow, it would also rock hard. ^_____^

However, seeing as the FM speed is four digits, in theory I would use the MSB LSB approach, like in MIDI. It's a royal pain to do, but at least one could theoretically "have their Kate and Edith too". Who knows... The future's so bright, my smiley wears shades.
