Kev has been working on most of his own stuff on YouTube currently. He actually does have an AIM account, and AIM stands for AOL Instant Messenger. Lets us chat in real time rather than just making forum posts to exchange information.
It'd do you a TON of good if you did this nicetas, because it would benefit the rest of the guys tremendously since they're on that just about everyday.
* Completed Gryphon Man
* Completed Mage Woman (Alt)
* A few frames on Wily 3
* Ideas for WIP Wily 4?
* Refined Instrument Pack
* Nicetas's Kevlar Man idea seemed to fit really well with Mage Woman, so renamed his to "Mage", in case he wants to continue it with Mage Woman in mind.
More updates to come soon, sorry for the delay in progress.
EDIT: Fixed a few things with Mage Woman Alt, thanks to nicetas.
On the Wily Machine, the new snare distracts me from the melody! Maybe just needs the volume turned down a bit. However, as CodeLimit just mentioned, the loose snare did sound cool especially during Frames 09 - 0C.
No matter what decisions youse guys make, I'm digging this soundtrack. Great work thus far!
TechEmporium: Thanks, but I think most of the other artists deserve the majority of the credit
COG: Interesting I guess? Wily 5 shouldn't be too hard to make, I'll try to do something dramatic.
CodeLimit + TommyBoy: Yeah, I think you're right. I noticed the sound in the Wily Machine sounded kind of loud in the intro, but that has to do with the changing to the 00 instrument. I believe Rushjet1 is fixing that, so there's no need to worry.
Tilesets are still being worked on, but we're getting closer every day.
I completely agree with you, so I can give you some rough ideas of what the levels look like:
Quote:
NOVA MAN - His stage is set aboard a space station/colony that specializes in ion engine technology. So yeah, think of shmup environments, starships, computer lights, fire, lava, etc. for his level. I'm thinking the stage should be comprised of reds, greys, whites, and other warm colors, and the ion engine fire I'm thinking should be blue and white. I devised a "trap" per se for the stage that could be used in the Wily Fortress as well; it's like Magma Man where the lava chute drops the instant-death lava, but instead its a gigantic ion flame that spurts from engine thrusters in parts of the stage (kinda like in the different Airship stages in SMB3 for NES). The stage also goes from being outside on the space station to being inside the station as well, so windows, stars, and planets and all that stuff would be nice if possible.
MAGE WOMAN - Her stage is inside these dark woods, so lots of trees, shrubbery, and elements of the Medieval Ages are in this one. A dark kind of atmosphere should be portrayed in this stage, so greens, browns, greys, and maybe pinks/purples may work as well. Go with your instincts on whatever else will work for Mage Woman's stage, because if it's in the woods, and her specialty is the Dark Arts, then I believe you have the floor on that. I must make it clear that you should keep it in the Mega Man vein, just to make doubly sure. The stage starts in the woods like Wood Man, and then it has elements of castles with vines enveloped around them the further you go.
NEURO MAN - His stage is inside a giant super-computer that is also fused with a dancefloor. So think LOTS of technology in this stage, with flashing lights, lots of parts for computers (like Sheep Man). The color scheme, think about neon colors, like greens, yellows, pinks, reds, blues, etc. There's also a part of the stage where the player is inside of this pink water-based substance, which I'm dubbing as neuroplasm (I guess to gimmick Neuro Man's stage, but at the same time, it works because brains are encased in this stuff to maintain their freshness inside of labs/hospitals). But yeah, let your mind go wild on this one.
FLOOD MAN - His stage is underwater in an Atlantis type of setting, so think of Atlantis gone technological (get influence from Splash Woman and other water-based stages from previous Mega Man titles for technological elements), so the colors would be of course blue-based, and also incorporate golds/yellows if possible, and possibly an area where it's black and blue/green (like in Wily Stage 3 in Mega Man 10, to create the feeling of diving deeper into the water). Also, the beginning of the stage is closer to the surface, and the stage progressively gets deeper.
GRYPHON MAN - His stage is based on Mount Olympus in Greece. It starts out on ground level in this temple-type area by a shoreline, so elements of the ocean can be seen in the background at the beginning. The further you go, the higher up you get in the stage. So there are parts where you're in a dark temple with elements of frescoes in the back (like in Ancient Greece), and there are parts where its sort of like Tornado Man's stage (since Gryphon Man is our Tornado Man for this game). Remember, everything in the game should have a technological look and feel. Anyway, of course remember to have clouds. For colors, I think greys, blues, browns, and golds might work. If you have other ideas/suggestions, don't be afraid to ask or improvise.
SPRINT MAN - His stage is sort of like Strike Man's stage; it's based on the Olympics instead conventional sports however, so think of hurdles, stadiums, and other athletic gimmicks for the games for the stage. The background should have a similar type of stadium, since the Olympics are normally held in that type of arena. I believe there's a section where there's water as well to mimic the swimming parts of the Olympics as well. His stage should be nice and happy, so go with what colors you think are deemed appropriate for a sporty type of environment.
KEVLAR MAN - His stage is based in a tundra snow field with elements of a skiing/snowboard resort. Think of the Ice Ages when creating the background elements, and MexicanSunflower is thinking of having the stage have snow on the ground that can be melted with Nova Man's weapon, so keep that in mind (kinda like in Cossack Stage 1 in MM4 that the snow hinders your ability to run faster or slide). Think Chill Man for ideas, but it's really up to you how the tiles should look. Whites, cyans, blues, and other colors leading to the feeling of ice are to be used, and for the elements of the resort, I'll let you decide at your discretion.
AUGER MAN - His stage is set underground in an ore mine. It should be noted that browns, reds, blacks, and other colors suggesting to the feel of a mine are to be used. I'd also like there to be elements of jewels in the stage, and that there are a lot of rocks. Also create technological based tiles that have transparent windows that can have the rocks be seen underneath them. The stage starts outside like in Hard Man's stage in MM3, and then you enter the mine afterward and it progressively gets deeper inside.
As far as physical construction goes, this is a preview of what I've been working on with Wily 3.
We've been working harder on enemies, but I'm probably going to remake all of them completely.
