Hey guys,
I was just curious if they are going to release the N106 chip on Famitracker or at least plan it? I wanted to recreate the music from Rolling Thunder on the Famicom but it uses the N106 chip. I know I could use different chips like the VRC6 and stuff but I want to keep it as close to the original as possible. I don't care if it has problems with NSF exporting because even with the FDS and VRC7 chip it sounds decent enough for me.
FME-07 is nothing like VRC6. It is AY-3-8910. Powerful thing if used properly, however I don't think it's support in FamiTracker will be on par with native AY trackers (the chip is rather tricky). It would be pretty cool to have the FME-07, anyway.
FME7/SUNSOFT5 isn't much like VRC6. it's 3x 50% pulse channels (meaning no PWM/duty settings.) however you can set them to use pulse wave mode, noise mode, or a mixture of the two (i've only heard one nsf that demonstrates this, and not all players seem to support it anyway.)
regarding those last expansions - patience :D FDS and VRC7 aren't finished yet and there's tonnes of bugs in the program, would be best to have that all ironed out first before implementing any new big features, i think.
Currently there is no emulators with complete FME-07 support, and no games with complete support as well. Should not be too difficult to add the support, the original chip (AY) is emulated very well.
