Hey guys, you probably already know this, but this is just an accurate recreation of N-tune001 by Naruto (not an original song by Mex). If you like it, check out Naruto's other music. http://www.rootnyanplus.com/user/naruto/chiptune.html
A.I. bomb, N tune 2, and N tune 3 are particularly excellent.
I was surprised too! Of course people who have been around a few years will recognize the song, but since so many new people are finding famitracker, I thought I ought to point them to Naruto.
By the way, good job. By looking at your instruments, it looks like you did this by ear! It probably would have been much easier if you used the MML file! Did you peek?

That's about it. I have just about no idea who any "famous" 8-bit composer is out there besides Virt and a couple others.
Now that I've got a good look at Naruto, his stuff is really cool. Bookmarked.
Yup, I did it from ear with nothing but the .nsf file and Sony Vegas. Vegas is a nice way too look at the waveform patterns. Although I don't know squat about MML so I doubt looking at the file would have helped me out (as of right now that is).
oh, how embarassing :$ i had assumed it was an original tune. people rant and rave about naruto a lot, though for whatever reason i've only heard AI bomb and one other tune of his, neither of which i like as much as this song. funny that.
still, credit where due. it takes a good ear and some persistence to transcribe or otherwise recreate songs. sounds really accurate from where i'm sitting. jrlepage also did this with a couple of virt's FX tunes.

hmm, Naruto, [url=http://sliv.4x86.com/]SLiVeR, [url=http://www.iridescentaudio.co.uk/]Lunar (dave), [url=http://chibitech.livejournal.com/]Chibitech, [url=http://battleofthebits.org/barracks/Profile/tadpole/Chiptune]Tadpole, [url=http://heosphoros.bandcamp.com/]Heosphoros, Tony Thai, Shnabubula, and I'm sure I'm still leaving out a ton of good people that you didn't already think of as well.
OH yeah, C-Jeff, not technically strictly NES but still amazingly good nonetheless.
