I'm trying to create a new soundtrack & I would like to simulate a violin for horror effect.
The only problem is that I don't know what effect would be suitable to do this on the square channels or if it's possible to do this in the sawtooth channel on VRC6 chips. Can anyone point me to the right direction?

Seeing that nobody responded & that I figured it out myself, I might as well say how I did it.
In the square channels of the standard 2A03 chipset, I just set the instrument's duty to a value of 2, used 475 in the effects column & made heavy use of the volume column for different fade types.
In the square channels of the VRC6 chipset, I set the pulse-width to 7, used 473 in the effects column & made heavy use of the volume column for different fade types.
Just posting in case someone is interested.

When you create a new instrument, just check the box that says Duty/Noise, type the number 2 under the graph & press the Parse button.
But it's not just an instrument; at the beginning of each music sequence where I want to play a violin effect, I just type 475 right next to the note, under the effects column in the tracker.
You'll also need to use the volume column (unless you set the volume pattern in the instrument's settings).
Check out the attachment; do whatever you want with it (it's just an arpeggiated scale payed normally, then with the effect, then both).

Violin has slow attack and a lot of strong vibrato usually applied. It is all you need to know, exact FT effects and settings could depend from certain situation.
To make the sound more believeable, you should apply basic sound characteristics (attack, vibrato) and specifics of violin play, as you can't synthesize the complete sound anyway. The same is for other instruments as well (piano can't slide or vibrato, guitar has a lot of slides with some vibrato, etc).
765 Sounds a bit lacking for a violin, but I tried with 762 & think that it's alright. That said, I think it may sound a bit better if I did my own volume effect to achieve what the tremolo is currently doing.

Well yesterday I was in a band competition and this musician told our class what kinds of waves the instruments have. He said the brass have a sine wave, then for the clarinets he drew stairs so I assume it's a square wave and he said the flute has a sawtooth wave. Just thought I'd share that.
When you say that the musician drew stairs, what exactly do you mean? Can you draw it? Because it's very easy to make a stepped wave using digital sound.
