Maybe this is more a tracker than a FamiTracker question--I don't have a great grasp on this stuff.

I was wondering what effect speed has on tempo. For instance, if my ftm has a speed of 3 and a tempo of 90, what's the final tempo?

Thanks!

There's a thread called "Random Useful Information" that has a .txt file filled with answers to this kind of question. Basically, BPM = Tempo * 6 / Speed. So if your Speed is 6, then BPM = Tempo.

Also, in FamiTracker, for the purposes of BPM, one "beat" is defined as four Rows. So if you're composing in some time signature other than 4/4, you might have to do some calculation to get the tempo you want.

The bottom status bar in FamiTracker also has a "final tempo" posted as well, look at the bottom of the window.

I know that a speed of 6 and a tempo of 150 still puts out a tempo of 150..and a speed of 3, and a tempo of 150 puts out a tempo of 300.
