Back before VRC7 was all the rage, I decided I'd try my hand at transcribing some FFVI music in FT using VRC6, starting with the Battle Theme. Then I made The Mines of Narshe. It all turned out quite nicely, but now I'm going to wait until there's a stable and relatively bug-free 3.5 to proceed, since VRC7 is such a better choice for the project.

Anyway, here's what I made with VRC6. Hope you enjoy.

That's very well done (even if it isn't VRC7).

That said, I'm also waiting for a more stable version of FamiTracker 0.3.5.

Awesome. Can't wait to hear the whole thing.
Are you planning on recreating the unused/unreleased tracks from the ost?

I only know of one unreleased track, and I don't have any of them in SPC format. Where can I find them? Is there more than one? I love the FFVI soundtrack so I'd really like to get my grubby mitts on such a thing.

You don't need them in SPC format to remake them. Anyway the only ones that were in Super NES format were Town 2, Town 3 and the Troian Beauty (From FF4) remake. The other 2 tracks were blatant non-FF6 and non-Super Famicom music anyway.

Town 2:

Town 3:

Troian Beauty:

Town 2 reminds me of something that you'd hear in Final Fantasy 7, the way the guitars were set up.

Both Town 2 and 3 sound pretty easy to remake to me, though it also sounds like it's using samples that FF6 doesn't normally use.

EDIT:
I've attached 4 mods I'd really like to hear NESified Hell I did all the hard work of tracking the songs for you! Hehe.

Yeah, the other two tracks sound like they never got passed Uematsu-san's synthesizer.

Here they are in youtube in case anybody wants to take a crack at 'em.

Of note: Approaching Sentiment also has an instrumental version.

On a personal note, I always wanted nsf's of the unreleased tracks from the NES games too.
Here they are on the off chance you might be interested in them, modusponens.

I also know that FF4 & 5 have a couple of unreleased tracks each. And I think FF9 does, too.

FF4's is Restless Moments, uh there were two more. One sounded like an opening theme, another had an echoing snare drum.

FF5's had a second flight theme, a different opening theme and a "Super Famicom" version of Matoya's Cave.

Here's FF5's second flight (it's a youtube video of a remake I did):

VRC6 is one of the two expansion chips emulated by version 0.3.0 of FamiTracker, and one of four emulated by 0.3.5. It provides an additional two square wave channels and a sawtooth wave channel.

What are some games that used it?

When you create a new FamiTracker project, goto Module > Module Properties (near the top of the window.

From there, you can add how many songs you want in the project &, near the bottom of the window, you can choose which expansion chip you want to use.

In FamiTracker 0.3.0, you can choose between Internal Only (which practically means using no expansion chip,) MMC5 (an expansion chip with 2 extra sound channels) & VRC6 (which has 3 sound channels).
