I have not tested it, but I don't think it's a good idea since the MIDI output is very primitive.

I think you should try your favourite MIDI editor.

I actually had contact with Chris back some time ago regarding support for MIDINES, but it didn't get anywhere.

But I still think any MIDI editor would be preferred for controlling the MIDINES (due to better control in most aspects), and doesn't the real time NES control defeats the need for emulation anyway?

I used the famitracker -> midi out -> midines setup and the note on/off works... Editing instruments envelopes, using all effects, etc. through the famitracker gui would be awesome! I thinks it's a matter of translating "everything" to CC messages. I don't know if it's doable tho.

I'm sooo used to trackers that when it comes the time to write chiptunes, I just can't do it in a MIDI editor. It just isn't as fun as it should be.

I wouldn't worry about the DPCM channel, as I'd be happy just with the built-in sounds that MIDINES includes.
