This is my first post on these forums, and I'll begin with saying it has been very inspiring to browse around here from time to time to get inspired by all great work that is posted by members of the community.
A few months ago I decided to make a game, and I wanted to do it all by myself. My strongest side is graphics and animation (even though I'm really an amateur when it comes to that as well), so the prospect of making an entire soundtrack was scary at first (and still is to some extent).
Since the game is in four colors and rather game boy-looking, I wanted the music to reflect this choice of style, and thus I stumbled upon the Famitracker program. Never having made an entire song before (I can play the piano a bit), and definitely never having used FT or any other tracker program, I have had a hard time creating the tunes I'm posting here now.
This is about half the amount of songs I intend to have in the game, but I thought it was a great idea to post the material I have here now, so all you experienced users can give me critique and perhaps even advice on how to improve.
Some short comments on the songs:
Water theme -
This is my first completed song in famitracker. I didn't know how to use the DPCM channel by the time i created it, so I had to resort to creating percussion using triangle.
Air theme -
This one is a bit short, but I still decided it'll work. This is probably my least favorite song of the ones I have created so far.
Earth theme -
I realized that it was possible to change the pitch of notes in real time, so I had to try it out. I will probably change the end of the song, since I feel the "whistle" sound is a bit over the top.
Fire theme -
More playing with the pitch and the discovery of real time tempo change resulted in this song.
Bone theme -
Intended for the last area of the game. It's the only song that has a non repeated intro (the song loops from where the intro ends). This is my favourite.
Save theme -
Nothing special, really. It's the theme that will play where the player selects a save file. The fact that it's short doesn't matter much, since the average player will leave the game selection faster than the song loops anyway.
Left to do are the themes for the game intro, a starting area (sort of a tutorial on how to jump, shoot and stuff), boss battles and the ending credits.
Please listen and tell me what you think about the songs I have made so far. Also, please be gentle - I am new to this
These are very good for your first attempt!
Keep going!
Thank you, I will post more songs as soon as I finish them.

What I'm so confused is that Save theme only contains 4 frames but it's size is 46Kb... Did you know what happened?
I found this odd too at first, but I realized it's because the song was much longer at first. The result was so repetitive that I cut the whole thing down to 4 frames in the end. The remaining frames are still there, since FT (as far as I know) store anything you do and keep it until you overwrite it.
Wow, I really liked those songs. The quality kept increasing with each song . I'd like to see the game that these songs will eventually go to.
Thanks for the kind comments. My estimate is that the game will be out in a few months. I still got a few soundtracks to make, and I also need to create all the sound effects (something that might not take "that" long). Apart from that the last area of the game and all the dialogue (which is not a lot, since this is a platformer) are still left to do.
The game will be free, since it's mostly an experiment to see if I can go all the way and create a complete "product".
I will keep you updated as I progress with the music creation, and when the game is done I'll let you all know
What kind of game is this, RPG? I like this theme as a battle theme if so, sounds challenging but not like.. evil or "badass" enough to be a boss theme.. if so, can't wait to hear the boss theme :D As it is it works perfectly as a normal battle theme though.
Glad you bumped this thread though, the other songs are great too, I liked bone.ftm the most like a lot of others here.

Thanks for the kind comments. The game is a platformer with rather mega man style boss battles, meaning they are not overly epic. I might create a separate tune with a more heavy epic feeling over it for the last boss, though.
These are excellent! By the looks of it, nobody could tell if you're a beginner or an expert from a team of crackers.
If you really want, you can create a new FamiTracker project & integrate all of your songs into one file; just click on Module -> Module Properties.
From there, you can add or remove the number of soundtracks in your file.
If you add soundtracks, you can then open your individual files & copy them in that new project (just be sure you set the proper frame lengths, row lengths, tempo, etc.).
