While I was away from this site, I worked hard on my compositional skills. I'd love to hear what you guys think of this. In my mind, I'd imagine this loop playing on an RPG when you're in some cursed town. Y'know, complete with talking skeletons and such.

when i first saw this i thought, "ooh! a thing!" so i clicked it. to me it sounds like a theme for a hat store and you're trying out all kinds of hats. i don't know why. maybe because i have team fortress 2 on the brain?

I think this works better without the drums, honestly.

What I think this could use is some sound design. Hearing constant pulses gets tedious after a while. First thing I suggest is giving it some decay and/or variation. You also forget to cancel your vibratos at the start of new frames.

Compositionally, I think you captured the feel well. Given a bit of work on instruments, you have the potential to be a great composer ^.^

Well I'm glad you clicked it XD. I take it you're quite the hat trader in that game .

Thanks poodlecock! I have no idea why I added the drums. In retrospect, it was a mite stupid of me, I suppose. I'll keep those tips close to heart the next time I make a thing.

Thanks again!

I feel like you really captured what you were going for. I love it.
The only thing i felt was missing was a smooth snare brush kinda thing. So i added it and did a little clean up! Hope you like!

Thanks! :D

The smooth snare brush kinda thing has a nice effect. Helps to cohesively glue the drums to the rest of the ftm, and to increase eeriness. Makes me wanna try all kinds of brush snare thingies for myself in the future! :3

This sounds nice, I like it.

I'm curious about something in wispybowl's edit, though. When I play the module at frame 02, sometimes I can get it to produce a strange low noise, and it seems to be caused by some kind of interaction between the Noise and DPCM channels. It's hard to explain what I'm talking about, but when I mute all but the Noise channel, I don't hear it, and when I mute all but the DPCM channel, I don't hear it, but sometimes when I mute all but those two together, I hear it.

I'm sorry if I sound completely nuts. Does anyone else hear what I'm talking about? What's causing this?

Edit: It seems that it is not actually limited to just frame 02, but anywhere where there is simultaneous activity in the Triangle, Noise and DPCM channels — it won't happen if you don't get the Triangle channel involved, so it seems like it's some weird artifact of the relationship among those three channels. Interesting.

You might have the audio settings output 8-bit samples and not 16-bit. I mistook it for bad mixing a long time ago as well.
