Anyway, do some covers before trying originals. You still need to improve a lot before composing anything, because to be frank, these are nothing to write home about.
Keep practicing~

Maybe I can help? I took a look at newsong.ftm and the first thing I did was "merge duplicate patterns" to see if I could identify any clues about the song's structure (which is an instinct sort of thing).
THEN I gave it a listen. And this is my feedback for it:
Newsong.ftm has no melody. (Aside: this criticism applies to the other two, as well.)
You've got a decent rhythm going, but there is no 'song' in this song. I hear a bassline and I hear drums, but thematically, that's all it is. In terms of a highschool wannabe garage rock band, you've got the drummer and the bass guiatarist, but no lead singer and no lyrics. (And speaking of lyrics, composing a melody part is kinda like writing poetry. The more you do it, the better you get.)
Some smaller specifics:
- Pulse 2 and Triangle largely mirror each other. So you could easily eliminate one of their parts to make room for a melody track (once you think one up).
- The D#2 and A-2 in frame 04 Pulse 1 sound off key; they detract from the overall feel of what you have. Again, this is an 'instinct' thing that you get a feel for as you acquire more experience.
Finally, the reason why a lot of us say "cover other people's songs before doing your own" is because you can learn a lot about how a song is structured by breaking it down in analysis and trying to recreate it. It may not help you directly (osmosis doesn't work the same for everyone), but it contributes to your overall experience and when you try to do something original you might occasionally find yourself thinking "okay, now I need something that sounds kind of like [that part] of [that song] by [that artist]", and knowing what goes into that part structurally will help you evoke that kind of feel.
