I'm pretty new to Famitracker, so forgive me if what I'm asking is stupid or obvious. Anyways, when I try to load a sample to an instrument, it completely distorts the sample so it sounds awful and nothing like it's supposed to. I know the quality or something like that can affect it, but I don't really know how to alter that or even determine what it is. And it was intended to be a chiptune drumkit anyway, so I don't see why that would be an issue.
I tried changing the pitch and the volume and everything, but literally nothing affected it at all in any way. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. It's a wav file, if that helps at all.
What do you mean? I'm editing it in the instrument editor, I don't know how to edit the actual wav file. And the file sounds fine by itself, it just gets weird when I try to import it into FamiTracker.
Do a forum search for RJDMC...it's a WAV to DPCM converter with several important features Famitracker doesn't have.
The sound quality can be improved by raising or lowering the volume of the original WAV and making sure there are no silent sections before or after the sound, as those sections will be converted as noise. DPCM is very low quality, so it takes a little work to get a good sample.
