I'm currently in the process of writing the soundtrack to my game, but I'd like to hear other opinions on my music.
Quite a few tracks are in an acceptable state, though everything you see here will be remade/improved by the time it makes it into the game.
A short description of tracks:
derelict - the intro stage of the game.
irreversible - a serious boss theme for when shit hits the fan.
momentous - final boss, phase 2.
overwhelming - a major boss about halfway through the game.
data center - a stage theme in a data center/computer area. This one is a little bit rough around the edges, but you can probably get the dull/uninhabited atmosphere I'm going for.
data center II - much later in the game, you return to the same area. The place is in a much worse state, and is gathering dust. It's meant to sound like a more serious take on the first.
Final Stage 1 - pretty self-explanatory, it's the last level. This theme also plays in the intro scene, and can be considered the main theme of the game.
If you have any criticism, thoughts, feedback, I'd be happy to hear it. Also, like I said, none of these are 100% completed, though some are closer to perfect than others. Entire new frames and sections will probably be added to a lot of these before they're done.
Thanks, and enjoy!

I like the ideas behind these tracks and the feelings they try and convey are (mostly) well implemented. My only gripe with the feel of the melodies is that the boss-tunes don't really add enough pressure to represent a fighting-scenario. Maybe try and make it feel a mit more up-beat and/or chaotic (just a little ) so it work better in that regard.
My main complaint, however, is how repetitive some of these somgs can get. The final boss (momentous.ftm) is a fine example: 7/8 channels play the exaxt same frame over and over again. What is played isn't bad at all, but it gets dull when only a single channel is driving the melody forward. More variety would be welcome

Jokes aside, my biggest complaints here are repetition, lack of volume control at places, and channel clashing.
About volume mixing, there's really no rules to it, it's just personal taste. My taste is that if volume is ever higher than C (12) in one channel then you better have a good reason, and if it happens in two channels I'm doing it wrong. Just my personal thoughts, feel free to agree/disagree.
What most of us can agree on, however, is the channel clashing. Be wary when two channels play the same note. The result is jarring.
But don't let all this discourage you, because you've got a lot going for you ^^
