Included is an FTM file that has notes forming the word "HI!". You may not add new notes or remove notes, you may only replace the notes there, change effects, volume, and add new instruments. Also, you must keep the HI! word.

No. Sorry, no. This is nothing worth mentioning to anyone.
A C-3 playing on Pulse 1 with a lot of unnececary effects, Pulse 2 is not audible due to cutting it immediately (S00 -> Instant note cut), the triangle is playing the same thing as Pulse 1 (one octave lower, mind you) and the V00 effects don't make any sense. And to top it off, I don't know anyone who constantly plays one drum sample when saying "HI".
I like to be freindly, constructive and help others. But THIS is just below anything.
If you want to become good at Famitracker, look at tutorials. Learn music theory if you want to compose. Look at note sheets if you want to cover. Look at other people's FTMs to learn Famitracker tricks. Learn what the effects do.
Clashing a bunch of random stuff into a tracker won't make you an artist.
Please, try and improve your skills and style, because something like THIS is just really not worth criticising.

Sorry, I just get a little mad when something reeks of "Didn't even try". Yes, it is a basic template, but maybe the first move should be something that sounds remotely close to what the result is supposed to be.
I would't post a FTM containing only a single note and then say "Competition for who can make the best song out of this"
Yeah, sorry if I look like a jerk right now, but posting a "Template" and prompting others to do stuff is just kinda lazy.
I personally think you're better off asking "How can I create a 'Hi' with Famitracker?"

Not to be mean MiniMacro, but if you really want to try making music, you and i both know that music consists of a LOT more than a single note playing. You didn't even attempt to make that single note have any rhythm. Anyone can hold a C note down... Even a bunch of random notes in rhythm is a great start to a melody. Just please put more effort into it is all that I'm asking
I think Vinyl is the only one who seems to understand the concept here. The first one wasn't supposed to be anything, but just something to show you what he meant for this competition. However, for me, 8-bit is, in and of itself, enough limitation for me, lol.
