Hi,
So I was working on a remix for this song called Muscle Museum by Muse (I wonder where people get weird titles like those) and in the background it repeats F-1 C-1 F-1 C-1 and so on. At first it used the piano, but then it uses a grand piano. There's a Piano patch for the VRC7 but no GRAND piano. Anyone that could make a custom patch that sounds just like a grand piano?
Thanks,
SwagMasterIV
P.S. I'm a new member so please excuse me if I posted this in the wrong section.
Well, to create a custom VRC7 patch, you've got to select set #0 and then you can customize the settings of the frequency sysnthesis to create different sounds. But beware, since you can only use a single custom set at a time. So, you'll limit yourself when you use this custom instrument just for a slight background track.
Maybe just play two pianos simultaneously a little off-pitch (P80 and P81/P82) and/or on different octaves to create a different sound.
I personally don't really know the difference between Piano and Grand Piano, so I don't know it that helps.
Welcome to the forums and good luck
(although I'm not really a fan of the "Swag" in your name, nothing personal ^^ )

The problem with that is that I don't know much about the settings for a custom VRC7 instrument. It's seems a bit too advance. I'll try though.
I say it's probably not going to turn out the way you want it. The sound waves produced by a piano are just too complex to be replicated with the 2-operator FM (carrier + modulator)
The Sega Genesis FM synth on the other hand is pretty good at piano sounds with its 4-operator FM: [url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y7ZygVzL3aI]Streets of Rage 2 - Dreamer [Genesis] Music
