This is actually a track I made for Steel Assault, but I don't want to spoil the context it's used in so I named it after one of the samples I used instead (and also it's probably the best thing I've made with Famitracker so I figured it deserved a new thread).

The samples used in the intro are a numbers station recording from here and Jason Robards' regret monologue from the movie Magnolia, plus some layered ambience (like seagulls).

I'm still not done tweaking this, so any comments and criticism are appreciated!

Dude i've gotta tell you. This song made me feel something that no other chiptune has made me feel before. The glorious samples start it off with a seriously deep tone, and it just builds the somber mood throughout the song. This is movie soundtrack quality stuff, and i'm not kidding you. I've been on famitracker a while and i haven't... i don't know man.... this is absolutely phenomenal. End of story.

Thanks, everyone! :D

I got the samples by creating the full layered .wav in GoldWave, then importing it into RJDMC, saving the full .dmc file, and splitting it into 6-frame-long (or however many) segments. The seagull samples are from freesound.org, and the church organ is from the Airfont 380 soundfont. (The annoying thing was Famitracker's DMC size limit of 4081 bytes and how it "only" supports 64 DMC samples, as well as a bug where, if you try to use the trim function on the end of a 4081-byte long sample, then the program crashes. I'll probably post a new thread about this soon in the Bug Reports subforum.)

I created the song after listening to a lot of post-rock, bands like Explosion in the Sky and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. It's a really awesome genre once you get into it (though probably more removed from chiptunes than any other music genre ever), here are two sample songs:
[ul][li]Godspeed You! Black Emperor - East Hastings[/li][li]Explosions in the Sky - Six Days at the Bottom of the Ocean[/li][/ul]
