The guitar patch sounds a bit loud and dissonant--especially when certain notes are played.

That's an excellent distorted guitar patch, in my opinion. It sounds similar to the one I used in my Famicompo entry a while ago.

As roflo said, I'm always impressed by people who track without even naming their instruments.

The thing you posted still do not have named instrument though.

Also, the guitar patch is indeed very good, something FM can be excellent at. It reminds me the distortion patch I made for a cover of metal squad, also on vrc7.
