It's very appropriate for boss battling, but it's not something I would listen to on my own.

Yeah, this definitely doesn't sound like a boss theme, unless it's a turn-based strategy game, or something similar. It could be a final stage, as mentioned, but not boss, really. It sounds really good, though.
