Hello! I began making a Daft Punk cover with the VRC7 channels pre patched instruments and it was going good until I began using the regular 2A03 and DPCM channels. The VRC7 channels were very loud and made it hard to hear the other channels and I was wondering if there was any way to lower the volume on the pre patched channels.

You'll find a volume mixer under File -> Configuration -> Mixer tab. Be aware, though, that mixer settings aren't saved per FTM, nor are taken account of in NSF export.

For these balancing issues it is common in vrc7 composing to keep your levels low. The main thing to watch out for is to balance against DPCM since volume there can't be changed at all. A good rule of thumb for treble instruments is to never go above volume C

Yeah you must keep the volume of the VRC7 channels down to get them balanced with 2A03. The VRC7 chip will also clip easily if playing too loud, this is not emulated at the moment but will be eventually.

Do not change the mixer settings unless you are tuning against the hardware or a specific NSF player.

When you're laying down notes, don't make their volume F. Make their volume 8 - some people even use 6 as a base. Then if you realize '8 isn't loud enough for [this channel], I need to stand out more', you're not stuck, you have room to make louder - if everything was F, you'd think 'darn, I have to go through the song and make every single note quieter'
