[ul]Warning: The following .ftm is a multichip using MMC5 and VRC5, and can only be played by using Warheart's build, Ubertracker, which can be found here[/ul]

If the url is broken: http://famitracker.com/forum/posts.php?id=5488

Before you listen to this cover, listen to the original first because I am significantly certain that most of you have NOT heard of it yet

Once again, if the url is broken: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGrp7WwlWVo

I love "The Binding of Isaac". That game is pure genius, even if Flash is complete garbage. When I hear that it's getting a remake, named "The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth", and see AND hear the improvements, I am jumping into this thing. This is one of the revealed songs for the game: Diptera Sonata. Wanted to give myself a test and try a style I haven't truly tackled before.

As a warning, this was thrown together in about...two hours. You'll see. Might edit a few parts to make it less...repetitive...

Edit 1: Okay, so as promised, I threw in a couple extra percussion parts closer to the original that will keep things a little better, as well as adding faint echoes in VRC6 Pulse 2 when an instrument in VRC6 Pulse 1 plays and there wasn't already accompaniment.

Comment 1: Sure aren't many people responding to this one. Changing the title a little by adding the game's name.

I think the main reason this isn't getting much attention is that it is designed for an unofficial, unsupported fork of Famitracker. All the more reason to stick to the official builds!

Umm no, I just felt it wasn't very faithful, I guess.

Will make a VRC6 only version in the near future.

Did I, with my own two eyes, just read the F-word? No...that's just "faithful".

Explanation, please. I never intended this cover to be entirely "faithful" to begin with--much has to change.

implying a cover needs to be a 100% accurate replica of the original material

Okay, can I just say I like the original better?

And that's fair. That's a much more straightforward and easier to understand comment. At least I gave it my all.

Maybe it wasn't 100% accurate, but who cares. I like it. Haunting and mysterious, just like it should be. And great use of multi-chip! :D

I'm somewhat glad you brought this up. It reminds me of something Edmund McMillen is doing with much of the soundtrack.

Edmund McMillen has come out and revealed that the music will actually be more tense if you are in a bigger/more dangerous room. How does this song tense it up? Add a guitar riff. Might work on something like that sometime this weekend before I start work. Could be pretty fun...except I'd have to improvise a lot because he never released the entire version. I mean, honestly.

After working about 12 days straight at work (the money is nice, though) and having this song on almost constant loop for an hour, I decided that I wanted to mix it up and TRY to make it more like the original. Wasn't sure how I'd do it, but I believe it would sound something like this new attachment. Of course you still need Warheart's build "Ubertracker", but that shouldn't come as a surprise. This isn't any finished version--this is "closer" to what a finished version 2 would sound like. Might get some time in on it this weekend before going to work.

Notable changes:

Dat Bass
Some channel changes to take the role of the bass.

Question now: Which one "sounds" better? Would finishing this version be worth it in the end or is it another project in vain?
