Considering the success of my previous cover of Hay Ms Derpy, I've decided to go ahead and try my hand at another song. This time, as the title says, I'm trying Nightmare Night by WoodenToaster. (http://youtu.be/9PCEp8z7FNg)

Since I'm still kinda new at Famitracker, once I discovered the fine pitch FX (PXX) I started to experiment with it. The original song has a very "electronic" feel, and I've found that having two channels play the exact same note, but having one channel pitched slightly up or down creates a very unique sound that fits perfectly for the song.

This is also the first time I've done the drums completely by ear, rather than using a MIDI file as a reference like I do with notes.

You might notice that for much of the song, Pulse 1 on the 2A03 is doing nothing. This is intentional, because I want to go back later and see if I can somehow use it to include the "rap" vocals. I'm predicting that it will be a bit difficult, considering rap vocals don't really have a melody to them, so I'm putting it off until the main instrumental is complete.

Anyway, the incomplete FTM is posted below if you would like to take a look and listen. Any feedback is appreciated!

Sounds good so far! Do finish it. Though I will say that I found the sound of the snares a bit lacking. The intro is also an octave lower than it should be. I modified the snares to make them sound a bit more crisp and brought the intro up. Besides that, keep up the good work!

This is one of the best things I've heard in a while! Well done!

I looked at the edited snares, and they definitely sound better for frames 05 through 08, but for a lot of the rest of the song I find that they stand out too much, so I just re-imported the original snares as new instruments and swapped over some stuff.

Also, I've found that using higher notes on the pulse channels without any background, such as in the intro, kinda bothers my ears. It's weird, but square waves kinda make me cringe at high frequencies. I'll probably make two versions, one with the corrected intro, and one that doesn't make me cringe. :P I know most people probably don't have the same problem with high frequencies, but yeah, it's more personal taste than anything that the intro was an octave lower. Thanks for the tips, though!

Also, Nightsnare Night? Really? XD

It's done! At least, it plays through fully. I probably have to do some tweaking to get it perfect.
Anyway, here, have the .FTM. If you can find anything I can improve, don't hesitate to tell me!
