Also known as the game's final boss music.

I've got it pretty much all scored right now - intro & ending need some more work but that aside all that's left is polish & cleanup.

I deliberately limited the volume on most parts to C (instead of F) to help give the bass track just a little more relative presence. I was also surprised just how many triplets the song uses -- percussion even has a few triplets spanning only half a beat (instead of a full beat), a first for me.

I may also make an MMC5 version sometime because the accompaniment in patterns 08 thru 0B really deserves harmonic chords.

well, the beginning is what I would describe as needlessly empty, but the rest seems fine within the limitations. I can't comment on the song itself because I don't remember how it sounds, so that's all the advice i've got.

The beginning sort of is a little empty (though yes, pattern 7F really does need more work), but I have to say the song ages better than Secret of Mana's standard boss music (which is sort of some generic boss metal with not much real musical theme going on). The sequel, though ... late 16-bit, those tunes rock.

The drums and arpeggios conflict with each other in the intro.

I also suggest using the dpcm for drums. The noise drums are really sucking man.

Unfortunately that is source and right now I don't have the inspiration to think up a replacement....

For now I'd rather avoid DPCM for a few reasons, but I do agree that the Noise channel does not do bass drums much justice (I substituted Triangle for it in two segments for this reason).

In the meantime, here's another Secret of Mana track - the standard boss theme from the game's untranslated sequel, Seiken Densetsu 3:
