The high pitch sound from emulating the N163 detracts from many songs. Therefore I request a lowpass filter to make the sound more bearable (and maybe an option to turn it off). I apologize if this has been asked before. The reason I ask for this is because the famitracker wiki claims that music played through a CRT TV goes through a built in lowpass filter. The filter is commonplace and there are numerous free implementations.

Famitracker already has a lowpass filter in the settings. The default setting is similar to an NES' RCA out. If you want something more like the RF output lower the cutoff significantly and increase the damping. Most people find this sound too dull, though.

The N163 does not produce the high pitched whine if you use 6 or less channels. This is another option to avoid the problem.

There's been much argument in the past about whether the whine should be accurately emulated, but ultimately jsr decided to leave it in. There was once a registry setting you could use to disable it, but I am unsure if this still works.

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\FamiTracker\Emulation\
Create a key called: Linear Namco mixing
With a value: REG_DWORD = 1

Personally I can stand the whine, but if you can't I suppose there's always the solution of exporting to .nsf and listening to it in a player that doesn't emulate the whine (most of them) or one that allows you to turn it off (NSFPlay)

It's true that the RF-modulator will filter some of it away, you can simulate that by changing the treble filtering in the sound configuration window.

The recommended solution however is to use less channels, that will reduce the effects of aliasing as well. Most games used four channels.
