I had been having problems with clicking sounds when playing the DPCM with my keyboard. I realized that setting the option not to reset the DPCM on key release fixed that specific problem, but the same noise occurs when I stop playing the song or at the end of a song I have exported.

Does anybody know of a workaround for this? I am making songs to loop in a game I'm making and the loud clicking sound is very noticeable and unattractive.

The clicking is the result of the DPCM output changing very abrupt. You have to make sure you don't cut it (which will result in a pop) or set the DPCM manually (per Zxx) in mid-play. Make sure everything's reset when the sample is finished playing.

This is caused by the DPCM volume quickly going back to the "zero level." It occurs because the sample previously played is still stuck on a volume above zero (this is what causes the triangle and noise channels to lower in volume). When ever you use a note cut on the DPCM channel or end the song, the sample 'tilts' back to zero. If you want to prevent this, go into the DPCM editor, select part of the end of the sample, and tilt until the peak at the very end starts touching the top of the window. If you're using a drum sample, it should look something like the image I posted below. After doing this, you might notice a subtle scratch sound at the very end of the sample. Don't worry about it, that's just the side effect of the sample gradually tilting it's volume back to zero.
