So I just picked up FT this week. Did a tutorial on YouTube, worked on an exact cover for a while, but wanted to play around more than copy.

So I stole my brother's bagpipe sheet music to Amazing Grace (simple, famous melody, simple chord progression) and started setting up to make it sound as close to actual bagpipes as I could. (Turns out you can get pretty darn close!)

Bagpipe music has all these sweet grace notes that they do (called cuts, strikes, rolls, etc...) which are a lot more complicated in some cases than simple grace notes tend to be in most European music. I had a lot of fun setting up all the instruments to program in all the fun notes. In total, I made 11 instruments just get get the right starts for each note. A simple low-A drone in pulse 2 and the triangle channels, and it sounds surprisingly realistic!

I want to maybe add in VC6 instruments for the second verse -- tech it up a bit, add some percussion effects, etc... But I was so excited by how this ended up that I just felt like I had to share the WIP.

Feel free to let me know what you think! ^_^

Huh. I almost can't hear a difference between the two. Any chance I could get you describe the difference you hear so I know what to look for better?

Thanks for the feedback, by the way! ^_^

50Hz means that each frame in the instrument editor lasts a bit longer. so the grace notes are longer and more pronounced.

The square 1 clash with the triangle when it hits note a-2. Is that intentional?

It is intentional. On real pipes, when you hit an A, it almost kind of hides the note, and there are other notes that clash more -- but the drones never change pitch.
