Hi there ^^

As my first submission, I'd like to show off my cover of Cave Story - Last Battle.
This track is one of my favourite final boss themes ever - even though the boss is really damn hard!!

This was one of the first tracks I attempted to cover and I was still learning how the NES and Famitracker work. The developement of this also took ages since I took many brakes looking at other songs, techniques and ideas.
So, this a rather crude mixture of skill and style, but I hope it can pass the status quo of this forum

I'd love to hear a little feedback and thank you for your attention

I love mad doctors in videogames.
#1 is Dr. Albert Wily, who you see on the right, and #2 is Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik.

But a more overlooked representant of evil geniuses is the yellow-skinned, balding bighead Dr. Neo Cortex.

And sind his theme from the first game is maliciously evil (and pretty simple ^^), I decided to dig up a MIDI and do a 2a03-only cover.

good job with the vrc6 cover. i appreciate the attention to volume details. especially the pulse in frame 3. i would suggest opening up the fx2 colums and using vxx commands to set the duty, and using more volume envelope variety in the instrument defs, like different attacks and decays etc.

This sounds great! I've always loved the Cave Story soundtrack, especially this song. However, even when using separate Vxx levels, the sounds can be a bit muffled when using the exact same note, so I added a little Pxx effect to make a little chorus. All in all, really great.

As for the crash bandicoot song, well, I'll just leave IT at the other thread, lol.

Ch3dd4r addressed one of my complaints, the other one being that the arpeggios in the frames starting at 1A are off, it's more like 16th notes with echo rather than some crazy arp.
Also, the bass is off in one frame, which is a simple mistake that you can gloss over easily sometimes.

The pitch really adds a lot of depth to the chorus.
I originally got the idea of two channes plaing the same track with different duty clcles from the Dr. Cossack 1 theme from Megaman 4 and when I tried it, it kinda looked like a sawtooth-wave. Back then I thought it was pretty cool, but the pitch makes it a lot better.

And to the background starting in 1A - I worked off a notesheet (which you can see in the popup) and I got really confused and changes up position so damn many times, I was almost sure this had to be incorrect. This sounds really cool now :D

And after listening to it again, I had to laugh about my brainfart at the beginning ^^D
