hello,
I have good request. that is to have the song get faster and faster at frame 0.
It should work by adding +1 to the tempo editbox, which causes the tempo to increase by 1 (replace 1 with another number if desired) when the song repeats.
for example:
150+1
The tempo starts at 150, but increases by 1 when the song repeats.
I could imagine this being used when covering childrens songs in particular, but a few nes games also do this (the Big thunder mountain level in Adventures in the majic kingdom, the Reo Grande level in toobin, and the silly race level in marble madness come to mind)
Who's with me on this?
I agree with this. My on-going, really-long-work-time-like-over-6-months cover of Stairway to Heaven would REALLY benefit from this. The solo slowly gets faster and faster until it ends, but that's really not easy with the Fxx command, because dithering that specifically with it is hard.
EDIT: I think it should work with commands, such as M01 to add 1 to the tempo, M0F for 15, and just have a Mxx command to add however much tempo you want, and then an Nxx command to do the same thing, but lower the tempo. With my limited C knowledge, and my very slight knowledge about FT's inner workings, I don't think this would be all that hard to accomplish. But I ain't jsr.
Yeah, I agree. I actually got the idea for this feature while doing my cover of 10 in the bed. In fred penner's version (which I was going for), the tempo increases every 3 verses or so. I have the original on my youtube channel, if anyone's interested.
It sounds like a good idea. Even though people can still use the Fxy command to do this on a per-channel basis (just changing the channel's pattern at each frame the tempo's supposed to increase,) this would make life a lot easier & allow users to use all channels without having to change between patterns as often.

Technology: the one thing that's hated & cursed at by all engineers, technologists, scientists & technicians!
I agree. Once someone finally implements the feature, I'll modify my baby Mario's favorites album to make use of it. songs 6 and 7 being prime candidates for this.
I think that someone else had this request back, and rainwarrior (I think) came up with a much better one: have a better way to mass-copy and mass-paste patterns. jsr, do you still remember that? That is much more useful and can be used for other things as well (like songs which have slight changes but stay the same)

Incrementing the tempo by the same number isn't that great an idea, since the effect is less and less the higher you get. The mass copying idea, however, is very useful.
kak: As mutch as the mass coppiing idea is good, I feel there is still a use for gradually increasing the tempo.
as a compromise, would you consider having the song gradually increase in pitch as well/instead? I know the nes didn't do that in any games as Far as I'm aware, but it was dun on a less powerful system (the Atari 800). listen to clame jumper's main theme and you'll get the idea.
Let it go, kingcandy. jsr already said no. What more do you need?
