Ah, noted and noted. People had some issues with the drums on my previous tracks being too quiet.
It would be a big help to me to know generally what type of speaker you were listening through. I referenced the FTM through my crappy laptop speakers, my decent PC speakers and my pretty great home audio system. It sounds decently mixed on all but the laptop. It's hard to nail a good sound on all three, haha. Anyway I'll look into the volume levels and see if I can't get a more even mix in the tracking before I try mastering the tracks in a DAW. Thanks man.
I'm on headphones with great bass range. Sony MDR-XD100. I really meant the enveloping is too loud for too long. like 12 12 12 12 11 10 0 as opposed to something nicer like 12 10 5 3 3 1 1 0. But again, I can't really get detailed without the ftm
Okay, here's the FTM. The envelopes are indeed way past the range you were talking about. I'll try a few things and see what I can do to keep the intensity and get a fuller mix.
I really need to get a set of headphones that aren't broken garbage, haha. I tried switching up the volume filters but I find that the rest of the track seems comparatively lifeless without the drums bangin' away. I really like the sound of the NC drums otherwise though.

One thing to keep in mind is that your triangle cannot get louder. You can make it softer using Zxx on the DPCM channel, but depending on the style of song, you may want to limit how loud your pulses ever get.
Like so
Yes! Thanks for the lesson man. Adding the arp to the drums so they have greater impact at lower volume is pretty rad. I sure hadn't thought of that yet. This edit/mix gives the track a degree of subtlety. (Whereas before it had none, haha.) I've always had a "This one goes to 11" attitude towards music, but I can see now that that attitude won't always translate in tracking.
