A short, simple little ditty; maybe it belongs in short loops and doodles. I think this is the point where I decided I would never use triangle for anything tonal ever again unless I could convincingly disguise how much it sticks out like a sore thumb. This cover arguably sounds better without it.

I had plenty of fun listening to this one...though you should've put an Ingo sound effect in there for teh lulz.

Haha. If I knew anything about DPCM, I'd be sorely tempted to intersperse a healthy bit of whooping and hollering into the mix. :-)

DPCM isn't really that hard. Just tilt the samples so that you can hear the noise and triangle adequately and leave the gain at +4-8 dB.

Neat work, but there's... too many frames.

EDIT: Why the hate on triangle D=

Maybe it's because I can never get triangle to sound good unless I either I use it for percussive thumping sounds or I minimize its volume with the DPCM counter and try to hide it under other channels. It doesn't like to stay in tune and I can't make volume envelopes for it; certainly rubs me the wrong way psychologically given how I like things that are in tune and obsessively manipulate volumes.

Are there too many frames? The reason it repeats the same frames twice is because I wanted it to play twice before the ending. If there's a way to get the main loop to go some number of iterations and then branch to an alternate section without copypasting the main loop's frames, I would very much like to know. Because that would be awesome.

I'm hesitant when it comes to triangle usage too, especially when writing for the VRC6. It does tend to sound somewhat out of place if you're not careful with your sound design. There are some ways to incorporate it in your VRC6 music though, if you're prepared to be clever and creative.

Yeah, I guess my dispreference of triangle is a bit exaggerated; it does just fine when I make drums with it, so I can't bash it too hard.
I'm thinking it likely does depends on the piece. I can see it working out if the music calls for the other channels to be fairly loud most of the time so triangle doesn't stick out... and if pains are taken to disguise the triangle's sudden onsets and cutoffs, I guess.
