Hey guys I finally finished my SMB tribute album. This project meant a lot to me because I have such a love for Koji Kondo and his music is what inspired me to become a composer years ago.
Let me know what you think.

Also, can I use the instruments? I'm too lazy to rip them myself.

Absolutely! If you download the ftm you can use the instruments or I can give you the instrument files. I originally found how to make them years ago on the famitracker forums. I'll try to get back to you with more stuff
Thanks for the kind words!

it's like super mario cocktease, where it just sounds like it's going to become a Mario remix at some point but it never does, just forever staying on the outside.
Still, that sort of feeling aside, as it should be since that's an unfair way to describe anything, it's miles ahead of that garbage they threw in New Super Mario Bros. They should write music in that way and I might start liking that series again.
I never commented on this, but you did great with this. It definitely has a Mario sound to it. I have to say that I kind of wish that you would have deviated just a little more from the source material(Super Mario Bros. 3). It's not bad that you didn't, but some songs sound a little too close to the originals they came from. If that was your intention, then once again, great! It all sounds good, either way.
With that being said, my two favorites... actually three favorites are the overworld theme, the Grass Land theme, and the Winter Land theme. These three really sound like Mario music, especially the map themes. Awesome!

I feel the opposite. I only liked specific songs in Super Mario Bros. 3. Granted they ranged from decent to good, but it never quite hit me. I preferred the soundtrack in New Super Mario Bros. slightly. If anything, it was the Bowser World themes that kept me coming back...just to hear that tune back then.
I'm quite interested in the soundtrack here. The supposed "Bowser World" of the bunch really gets me going. The Airship stage theme is...odd to me, though. I can't put my finger on it...but I can safely say that many of the songs here are better than Nintendo's songs in my ears.

I hear what your saying Linker2a03. Well the reason why this one had such a heavy Mario 3 sound is because that was really the game that established many long running conventions for the series and it was the first NES Mario soundtrack with a large amount of music. As far as musical inspiration, I was inspired by everything from mario 1 (the ending theme), Mario 3D world (as far as the bowser theme) and a lot in between. My big thing is that I simply adore Koji kondo. A few years ago I made a super Mario Galaxy tribute album called of Cosmic Proportions that was orchestral and inspired by those soundtracks. I think I really wanted to commit to an older Mario sound here. I do really appreciate your feedback! If I am to make another one, it will probably feel more inspired from a variety of Mario. I thought of this one as more of a challenge to see if I could almost prove what makes Mario music so enduring.
Thanks a bunch for your feedback!
