The fact is, I haven't learned anything about music styles, and my knowledge about them is only based on my own interpretations.
I have learnt a few instruments though, and I do have absolute pitch.

So: What should I do if I want to master those music styles well? And of course, about composing music in those styles, e.g. rock.

And because of that fact, I sometimes compose tunes without knowing where I'm going or without knowing what style it is.
(Here is one of my unfinished original tunes.)

I like this quite a lot actually, it's something you'd expect to hear at the end of a Megaman X game for example. It has that kind of "we've arrived at a conclusion" mood.

As for advice... really, all I can tell you to do is listening to a lot of music of that particular style you want to learn, and read up on its musical structure as well. Yuzo Koshiro for example went to night clubs to know what kind of music he needed for the Streets of Rage games, or so I've heard.

I just wanted to say something similar to what za909 said. If you feel like video game music is not enough, there's nothing wrong with trying to do something else. What kind of music do you like? Pop? Jazz? Metal? There's so much you can learn from pretty much any genre! It's better to listen to as many different genres or styles of music as possible, sticking with only one style of music will probably make tracking a lot harder.

This sounds very nice. As for mastering music style, I would go ahead and listen to a lot of the genre you want to kindof mimic, then begin to develop your own style that is still very obviously the genre you chose. That's just my advice.

Minimalistic genre... nice.

Continue what you do, it makes great background music.

However you came up with the funkiness in the triangle, I'd like to know =P

Seriously, everything you've done so far has been top-notch. Don't give up, and often your own interpretations can lead to some interesting results. Give it a try, who knows =)

Many thanks guys above.
Another question, can anyone tell me which music genre is most similar to this NewTune5.ftm?
The reason I composed in this style is that I find this style familiar(since I've listened to music in this style) and wanted to recreate it. I just don't know the name of this style.

Sound like a mix of Touhou and Megaman X to me. Don't know what it's called though.

I thought he ment styles from various games. I just recently got ahold of the hummer team/yokosoft/somari team/copyright instruments, but Pootle cock said it's not a good idea to be doing whole soundtracks in pirate nes game style. This is why I used smb1 instruments for ben's adventure.
