Yes, I made a thingy that decompiles NSF files. Source and instructions are included in the .ZIP file

Limitations:

- Doesn't like multi-track .NSFs
- Only works on famitracker .NSFs created with version 0.3.0 or newer
- Might crash on a few .NSFs
- Seems to absolutely hate 0.4.3 BETA

Most recent version is located here: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/70256161/NSFDecompiler_latest.zip

I'd make something fake for the laughs, but no, this is not fake.

this is so cool. I can't wait to look at some stuff and see what precisely was done to achieve it.

so good :o

Edit

Holy shit. I now understand how effect three is properly utilized, and i can stop using r and q, which i have to trial and error my way to the right pitch from.

Also saw how absolutely gorgeous square echoes work. I can't believe you can stagger the echo so far down and have it work.

aaaaaa this is incredible!

I was impressed when I saw the resulting FTM, but it seems it doesn't work if the NSF contains expansions. Still, really nice.

EDIT: Oh wait, did I miss something?

I opened a song that had an FDS channel, and it worked properly. Couldn't say beyond that however.

I'm trying it with some FCM10 exhibition entries and it works, but it doesn't with my own songs... Weird, I'll see if it works with some older (and crappy) material that I have lying in there.

I'll try FDS too. [FDS and VRC6 seem to work too]

By the way, it created some invalid stuff when I used it with entry 3 from the FCM10 Exhibition. Check the last frame.

This is wonderful though, I never thought I'd see something like this.

I half-expect this not to work unless your system's date is set to April 1st of any year. :p

Or to contain a deadly virus that will wipe your hard drive! Who knows.

Seriously though, so far I seem to be getting consistently positive results with this. Good job!

EDIT: 1xx and 2xx seem to be reversed for N163 channels.
Actually there seems to be plenty of quirks involving the N163 and pitch effects. Take a look at these FTMs for instance.

Ok, I'd like to remind everyone NOT to upload source files you haven't created yourself, unless you have permission to do so!

I'm as well wondering if it's suitable to host a tool like this, here.
