My latest, track. I think this is my best one so far, and that's why I want to put the WIP-stamp on it, I want to make it longer and better, but I also want to share it with you guys so I can fix my errors from the start.
The pulses are too loud compared to the other channels, so you should lower their volume until all the channels can be heard equally, or until you get the kind of sound you want.
Sometimes, you can have a few channels louder if you want them to stand out, but for NES music I wouldn't suggest doing so because it would ruin the sound.
It seems you are getting the hang of it though. Keep practicing!

I've lowered the pulse volume a little bit, it should sound better now. I also adjusted the volume so that the "verse" is a little softer and the "chorus" a little harder. Maybe that will make it more interesting. The changes are not major though.
You placed volume values in every note. It doesn't have any effect unless you are using an Axy effect (volume fade-in/fade-out), so placing a volume value on the first note on the pattern would have the same effect.
What do I mean? Once you set a volume value on the volume column, it will keep unchanged until you put an Axy effect or a different volume value. If you only place a volume command at the beginning of a frame, it will make it easier for you to change it in case you need to do so.
If you didn't get my explanation, you can see what I mean in the attached FTM. I deleted every redundant volume command, so only the first note in every frame has one. Of course, when you need to change the volume of a channel, you can place other values in the volume column throughout the song.

I get your explanation, but one time I used the volume panel it changed unless I put it on every note. I might've done something else wrong though. But better the safe before the unsafe
That's weird. To my knowledge, it should normally change if you use the Axy effect or maybe 7xy, but not under other circumstances.
Well, maybe you accidentally put one of those effects and didn't cancel them. It's not wrong to put volume commands in every note though, but it's redundant and it would mean more work for you if you need to change the volume throughout all the song. No need to worry though, work as you please!

Yeah, this happened to me, too, one time... It was really weird... Huh.
