You guys have known for a while that I take my band's marching music and put it in FT using multichip. Well, I decided to do something different this time. I decided to take one of our songs that we took to festival and put it in here. A grade 6 piece (for those of you who don't know, concert band music in the US is graded from 1-7, 1 being first-year band student material and 7 being basically professional). The problem is that, being a concert band piece, there are too many parts to fit into one FTM, even with every single expansion (not counting 5B. That still wouldn't solve the problem, either). So, what I did was make two identical FTMs, split up the instruments between the two, and combine them in Audacity. Obviously, if I were looking for authenticity, I wouldn't be using multichip to begin with; these are all just fun projects, and I'm gonna keep doing them until I get bored or burn out and take a break (which may be soon after this :P) HUGE props to Zamual! Without his N163 instruments, this wouldn't have been able to happen, or, at least, it wouldn't sound nearly as good.

I'm attaching both FTMs and the MP3 can be found here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/az9vjb0sbzimf68/dWSQ1SzTAS
Hope you enjoy!

Wow! This is something I've never, even, EVER attempted. (Never will, either, my songs never fill n163. on 4 channels.) You did it really well, too. Congrats!

My thoughts exactly.

Sounds a bit too hissy, too bad you had to use 8 Namco channels on the FTMs. It's also detuned in some places, but these are just minor details.

Excellent work!

Yeah. That's one of the problems with having to use all 8 channels. I've definitely gotten better with managing the hissing problem.

Thank you all for the compliments!

Added a no noise version to the Dropbox link using the Sunsoft Tracker. In any other instance, I would agree with you guys about the less noisy and whiny sound, but for my band songs I think the normal version works better. I want my brass to have that sound to them. The trumpets and trombones in this song in particular (as well as the horns in some places) are the icing on the cake, I feel, and I'd like them to be more prominent. Believe me, I know I sound kinda crazy, but I just like the noisy sound. Anything else, though, and I'd be happy to use the Sunsoft Tracker for exporting more often.

Also I REALLY thank you all for your complements! I really do appreciate them.

A link to [url=http://famitracker.com/forum/posts.php?id=292&pid=7512#7512]Sync Play would have been pretty useful in this situation I think.

Anyway, this is pretty impressive work, but at this point it ends up sounding more like a MIDI played with a really poor soundfont, more than an 8-bit chiptune.

Did not know about Sync Play. Thanks!

...Yeah, I know that this kind of defeats the purpose of making chiptunes, but why make MIDIs when you can make FTMs? I don't want to make fake bands; if I wanted a recording, I would listen to a recording of my band or a professional band. I wanted 8-bit instruments to sound like a band.

I hear ya!

This must have been a logisitical nightmare though. Did you track this on two separate 1900x1080 monitors or something?
