Hi everyone. I thought that since this really isn't just a Megaman 9 song, that it would warrant a new thread. It's still the same file, but the song is completed.
Here is the actual trailer:

Technical notes:
-Medley contains a song from every classic Megaman game. (MM1-8, Rockman and Bass, and 9..for a total of 10 songs, 6 minutes and about 20 seconds)
-All sound effects are from mm9fami_sfx.ftm
-All sound effects edited in via Pro Tools
-All sound effects cut out their appropriate sound channel
-This video took me 3 days to complete
-Song was made in "Megaman 3 style", except in MM5's where there were some instances in the triangle where I didn't cut a frame before the next note (only because the original song didn't)
-Video was made in "Megaman 2 style", if that makes sense. I basically simulated a Capcom game's intro and ending.
-I know no Capcom game ever used DPCM, but in this instance I used it just for the "Let's do it!" lead-in to Megaman 8's song.
-this song has taught me everything I could possibly need to learn, or even want to learn about all classic NES Megaman songs.
Thank you. I only used Pro Tools for the editing in of the sound effects and the final recording mix. I recorded the song from NSF (not the ftm because of Famitracker's playback timing problems) to 5 separate tracks, then gave the sound effects their own tracks and cut out the main music tracks (the appropriate ones) when the sound effects played... I did it that way so I could "heal" the regions that I cut in the main music tracks, and then I made the sound effects inactive.. Then it was just a matter of balancing phase with the waveforms and a bit of compression on the DPCM, using a Limiter to make sure I didn't clip the waveform.
On a side note, it would kick so much ass if we could use ReWire with FamiTracker so I didn't have to sample the tracks separately and manually.
Thank you so much for all the hard work. I love the Medley. I love how you went all out and made a video as well. I know how daunting making FTM files can be. I want to highlight you and your work on my webpage if that is OK with you TSSF. You and others are why people continue to take on chiptune music today. You especially have influenced my work, thank you again!!!!!
Thanks everyone. Seeing reactions like this is partly the reason why I did it all. I'm glad some people appreciated the tedious work to make it "NES-authentic" by cutting out channels with sound effects.. I'm glad you all loved it.
I'm wondering if I should post the video up on Kotaku, maybe spread the Megaman love? dunno if anyone would post it, they don't seem to post anything I post there anymore.
The song is good and I like it. Good job! I reacted less on the song after MM5 since I don't know much about the latest MM (except for 9 of course!). I may use the song in the credit page for my MM9 project (if it's not too big).
As for posting the video on Kotaku, why not? Spread the love!
Yep, you were right: just the song data is 36k!... So unless I can find a way to modify the FT3.0 editor source code so I can extract the binary data in multiple chunk and bankswitch it myself, it will not be possible to use it. Oh well.
I may try to do it someday if I can find the time.
Hey tssf, I must thank you for the ftm you provided. With any luck, I can utilize your Wily Machine ftm as a reference and make a version myself. The way you replicated the sirens is simply awesome.
ugh don't remind me. I didn't even know about it till a couple days after I finished the medle.. ...mabe if capcom approves a second volume, rushjet1 could hook me up?
