I think that it would be nice to be able to back up and share tracker appearance, and I especially say that because I have to reconfigure the appearance every few months when I do something that prompts a reinstall of windows, or a move to an entirely different operating system.
I don't see this being too hard to implement. Unless your method of writing this stuff to registry is weird, it's as simple as having the tracker read the file, and then put it in the registry using the same method as through the UI. Just, from a file. And, the other way around, well, you load the UI settings anyways, I see no reason why it would be hard to take what's already loaded and put it into a file.
Well, if you have some program to create an image of your OS, that's the best thing to do in my opinion.
Since I'm on Windows 8, I use the recimg command in a command line window (run as Administrator since it won't run otherwise). I make sure my system's configured just as I want it, create the image & I can refresh my machine with it all intact if anything goes wrong.
This said, it would be good if FamiTracker could save configuration options to an INI file. That way, such things as key configurations & UI appearance can be backed up before reinstalling the OS.
