If I end a song with a note, which is obviously required, the last note keeps on going on and on until it reaches the end of the track and repeats unto the first notes again

Did you put a note cut at the end?

It would also help to post the song up here too. That way, anyone can edit the file & show you what needs to be done.

There's a note cut? Wow, I'm stupid. Can you please tell me how?
It slightly irritates me how there are people that glance over the forums. This is nothing against new users, but if it exists, there is likely a nice guide, forum, or 8BitDanooct1 to help out.
It's a setting under File>Configurations. Look at the bottom right and you'll see note cut; I want to say that the default is "1", but I prefer "/" instead...that's just me, though.

Wasn't the forward slash the old default? Probably why you'd prefer it in such a silly position, but never mind.

Try some note cuts.

EDIT: Oh, you did. What a redundant post of mine.

hey thanks for making this post. now that all these people answered you i figured out that the note cut is a manually programmed button which you type which key commands the note cut. i've just been using the s00 effect this whole time because i couldn't figure it out.

I suppose there's no harm in using Sxx as your note cut, to be honest. If you want to use release envelpes you'll need to use the note release event though, so you might as well reconfigure your note cut hotkey while you're at it.

Why not make an instrument that eventually reaches the volume 0?

So when I use sxx effect to cut the note and the instrument has a release part, I won't be able to hear it? I thought it would just happen regardless.

Sxx is the same as a note cut (complete stop). A note release equivalent of Sxx has been requested, but not implemented.

It's been implemented in ipi's build.
