I absolutely love this song, and I think the original is probably the best sounding song on the Genesis ever made. So here's the NES version!

The drum samples were ripped from the actual song, even if they weren't sampled sounds originally.

Good! \,,/(*_*)\,,/

I would love to see this with more channels (MMC5 or VRC6 would be nice, but N163 or FDS would really be amazing)

Nice cover!I also love the original. Your version sounds good, even with only 5 channels! The only thing that is rather off is the tempo. It should alternate between F05 and F04 for each row. Look at the attachement. But good job, again!

@ Warheart : There is a thread on this forum that I can't find, where there was a VRC 6 cover of metal squad. I have downloaded it because it was really good. It's the 2nd file.

Doh, you beat me to it. Oh well, there's plenty of other songs from the game that I'd like to cover.

Even though I can agree it is a fantastic song, did you consider [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uf-zb1MdXe4]Stand Up Against Myself? I think I like it a little more than Metal Squad. Just a little.

Personally, [url=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8wdVS2rLu0]I think this is much more impressive. TF4/LF is still really awesome though.

whilst i like this, i think it's a bit empty :x

i also feel the need to address that whilst metal squad is one of the best written tracks in tf4, there are far better sounding tracks in the game that don't use a single instrument that resembles tinny white noise more than a guitar

Stage 6 maybe? That one has a really nice slap bass synth. But the guitar doesn't sound tinny at all on a real Genesis (the Model 1 version anyway, with the stronger low-pass filtering)
Yeah it is a little empty, but I thought this would sound like shit if I made it an arpfest

I was also thinking about using a DPCM heavy guitar, but I decided not to, because that would've killed the chip aspect for me.

EDIT: Fixed the tempo issue, as well as some of the pitch bends, and made the echo a bit more powerful.

To Gamma :
No I haven't touched it.Like I said It was In this forum board, and I think it was from a conversion thread, using the import, export text function. But I may be wrong, and I don't know whether it was in the general famitracker forum or this one.
If I ever make a conversion, I think I would try on vrc7.
