So, I'm trying to do MSX Gradius covers in Famitracker, after realizing that the 5B is a mini AY-3-8910 and the N163 is a few steps up from the Konami SCC. The problem is, I'm using text files to change the expansion number, and I don't know the value for 5B + N163. Does anyone here know what it is?
In the FamiTracker manual, it explains what number corresponds to each expansion you wish to add. SunSoft 5B expansion takes the number 32 and N163 takes the number 16 to be enabled. So, to enable both expansions at once, just add these numbers and there you go.
[Therefore, you must type 48 in the expansion field]
This works for every expansion you wish to add. Just add the numbers that correspond to each expansion and the result is the number you must type in the EXPANSION field in the text file.
[As you have seen:
SunSoft 5B = 32
Namco 163 = 16
32 + 16 = 48]
EDIT: Attached the file you need to enable both S5B and N163 at the same time. Also, the file in this post will help you a lot with multiple expansions.

Reason I said that is because I was under the impression JSR wanted famitracker to be as true as possible and stay within the limitations of the system. So I was expecting that idea to be rejected.
Is this a hint that you actually might think about implementing Multichip to Famitracker?! :D
Yeah it has been started on, that's why it's possible to enable multichip at all. But don't expect it to be finished anytime soon, and using it so far is not a good idea since there's no guarantee that files will be compatible with a possible future version with official support.
And it's true that no games used multiple chips, but it is kind-of supported by the NSF format and there even is hardware available for playing it back.
