Just for the heck of it, I made a song that uses almost nothing but the 5B expansion to make it sort of MSX-styled... Yeah, Almost. The reason this is only "pseudo" is because the first channel on the 5B doesn't have volume control in it's current state, so one of the 2A03's channels have been used to make up for it. Regardless, I think it turned out pretty well.

If you don't know how to import text modules, go to File > Import text.

This is very nice. Sadly, one of the many things wrong with SN5B emulation at this point is that its volume curve is more logarithmic than that of the real chip. So while it really sounds nice, it's still not even pseudo-MSX (which sucks because I can't use it to show off).

So I suppose it's more like "fake" MSX, then?

Yeah. All these these drawbacks stem from emulation bugs, though.

Im_a_Track_Man: The 5B uses a Yamaha YM2149F (a clone of the AY-3-8910).
The Yamaha clones of the AY-3-8910 seem to have a more logarithmic volume curve than the General Instruments chips from what I can hear in emulators.

And FT's emulation is, even still, slightly more logarithmic than a real YM.

So, it's more Atari ST than MSX, then. Hm.

The Atari ST and "non-original" MSX models all use the YM. only the first model MSX uses the AY.

MSX2 machines and upwards use the YM chips, while the original MSX1 machines use the AY chips, as Im_a_Track_Man said.

This is a very good tune, LanSukasa. I should have said that in my first post.

MSX2 sprites are really weird...
