A while ago I started playing with Famitracker's source. I added a few things that I that would be nice to have. Here's the changelog.
New stuff:
- Added the Lxx delayed release effect - similarly to Sxx, it releases the current note after xx ticks.
- Completely changed Exx - it is now the extra effect (similar to XM's Exx).
- E0x sets the frequency of arpeggios in ticks. E00 will stop arpeggios.
- EEx sets the channel's volume to x. EE0 will mute the channel.
- The module properties window now allows you to choose multiple expansions.

Known bugs:
- Instruments with no volume envelope are unaffected by EEx.
- Sunsoft B5 implementation is very unfinished (and should not be used).

Fixed bugs:
- Fixed a bug where VRC7/B5 channels were being removed by having less than 8 N163 channels.
- Fixed a "bug" where saving B5 modules was not allowed.

To add:
- More Exx effects, maybe vibrato envelope, glissando?
- The ability emulate older VRC7 patches (and possibly blank volume envelope behaviour).
- NSF export for the added effects.
- NSF export for multichip... but this is unrealistic.

Not going to be added:
- B5 export.
- Multiplexing control.
Note that modules created with this version of FamiTracker are not guaranteed to be compatible with any previous or future versions!! Don't save over your "genuine" modules!!

None of the changes are reflected in NSF export, but WAV export (as well as playback) works fine.

Enjoy!! Attached to this is a module demoing the new effects.

A few additional bug fixes!!
Version 0.4.2, ipi's edit r2

Known bugs:
- EEx has no effect on VRC7 channels.

Fixed bugs:
- Fixed a bug where Hxx/Ixx on FDS became out of sync.
- Fixed a bug when using different arps speeds with a 0x0 effect.
- Using 0x0 arpeggios now acts like it does in FT 0.4.2.
- Fixed a bug where channel volume and the volume column were ignored for instruments with blank volume envelopes.
I love you for Lxx alone.

Edit, there seems to be a bug when using 0xy and E0x together.
The program plays all the notes in the arpeggio very quickly, and only plays witht he correct speed after that.
Also the effect does not seem to reset for new notes.

The last track in the demo seems to be using Xxx effects instead of Lxx, for some strange reason.

Sometime yes. Multichip is a planned, albiet low-priority feature. I do like that checkbox for chip selection very much, however.

I wish I could try it.

But Windows 8 says, NOPE.

I'm using Windows 8, and this build is working just fine for me. Perhaps the issue is caused by something else?

You know, windows 8 doesn't come preconfigured. That might be your issue, it seems to be the issue of everyone I've seen have a problem with windows 8 not running things. Like, one guy, who couldn't run TF2, and was complaining to everyone about it, and it turned out he was trying to play it on the default graphics driver.

So, Exx effect will not work on exported nsf? Because right now it is.

At this point, that would be like providing a Win2K build.

Xyz, uses an old XP laptop. Sadly this means he can not indulge in the multi-chip checkbox like the rest of us.
